Introducing Jonathan Ravensdale

Ravendale

Those who follow me on twitter (@tommiekelly) will have heard me talk about my new comic Ravensdale. I have posted a few test images here and on the Sketch Paddys site too. I’m not giving too much away at the minute other than this comic is going to be a lot of fun and really scary. This is the big one, I can feel it.

Tommie Kelly Presents is no more.  Even by my sales it was the lowest selling comic I have produced to date (I sold 4 copies) and so I have put that project behind me and have moved onto other things. DOWN and ROAD CREW have been permanently put on the shelf at this point. I know some of you would suggest that I finished the comics even if no one cares, just do it for yourself, but my point is: I know how the stories ends, I already have done it for myself Its just not drawn. Besides, I don’t have the time to dedicate to work that would end up being nothing more than vanity press.

So what am I working on. I am doing a 20 strip comic  written by Jeremy W. Kaufmann, called Billie Cannon in… COWGIRLS AND MANEATERS. We’re just under halfway through it and I have to say Jeremy’s script is awesome. I am basing my art style for it on 1950′s Sci-Fi movies, so its lots of fun.

I am also working on a new webcomic, called JOHN MULLHOLLAND: PSYCHIC DICK! Some Artwork is above. The first episode is fully written and I have most of the character designs down along with a few locations too. I am going to be trying a different format for this, a click to go to next panel type of thing so it should be interesting if nothing else. It’ll be out when its done.

Anyway, for those who don’t know, I recently got Married. Happy days.

NEW KELLY ART: Shanley

Gar Shanley by Tommie Kelly

Gar Shanley by Tommie Kelly

I have been so busy over the last few days getting the http://www.irishcomicnews.com site designed and content uploaded that I have been neglecting my “DRAW EVERY FUCKING DAY” motto. So here is a quick sketch I did of my good frend and comic genius Gar Shanley done in Manga Studio in about 10 minutes. I hope Gar gets a kick out of it (and you too of course!)

I am now a Sketch Paddy

Sketch Paddy Invincible

The very nice boys over at the Sketch Paddy’s blog asked me to become a member last week and I and joyfully accepted. So then I had to decide what I was going to draw. I usually don’t do any superhero type stuff but I thought I’d give it a go for a change. I have done two images so far and you can see them by clicking on the thumbnai above.

Ok, so the new printer arrived and I was finally able to print out the digital pencils onto an 11x17inch Bristol Board. I also printed the title, website and panel box just to make the finished peice be complete. Inked with a brush pen, a dip pen and a brush using Winsor and Newton Black India Ink. More to follow.
